Land Clearing Services Available in Fairfield County

The professional land clearing services in Fairfield County we run most are lot clearing for a build, brush clearing on a fencerow, tree clearing on a wooded tract inside the bat window, stump grinding at $4 an inch, and site clearing with site prep and grading for a pad. Underbrushing rounds it out.

Our land clearing service removes trees and brush and grinds the stumps, then stakes the corners. Selective clearing keeps the white oaks on the knobs. Dirt work services run $160 an hour with an operator, excavation included, for a pond footprint Residential and commercial, both. One tree removal over a roof goes to a climber. No concrete or septic from a land clearing service; I know people who do that.

Forestry Mulching on Till and Sandstone: Honeysuckle Mulched in Place

Forestry mulching here is two jobs. On the till north of US 33 it is honeysuckle under every woodlot edge and callery pear on the old fields. On the sandstone south of Lancaster it is dead ash over a honeysuckle understory, with multiflora rose on the old pasture. Our mulching services grind the undergrowth and the trees and branches to 8 inches. The mulch lays two to four inches deep and holds a slope.

Honeysuckle resprouts from the crown, so we grind the crown into the dirt and you spray the regrowth that summer. Dead ash and hardwood over 8 inches we fell first; the tops drop before the trunk is touched. I have never seen a woodlot the ash borer missed. Fields here overgrow in two seasons. No piles: removing vegetation with the mulcher puts it on the ground as cover. We remove unwanted vegetation and leave the oaks and the dead wood for your stove.

Lot Clearing for New Homes in Violet Township and Canal Winchester

The county wrote 389 single-family permits in 2025 by the Census Building Permits Survey, with Pickerington at 132 and Violet Township at 129. Residential land clearing here is a homeowner with a honeysuckle fencerow, or a Canal Winchester lot on the Franklin line. Small residential lots run one day: half acre $2,500, quarter acre $1,700 flat.

Residential jobs on the Hocking edge are 2 to 5 acres of oak woodland with a house site cut into it. Commercial land clearing runs along the US 33 corridor, where commercial development and master-planned communities take old farm woodlots. That commercial land gets the 300-hp mulcher and a stormwater plan. Property development starts with site preparation.

Land clearing in Fairfield County costs $1,200 to $5,000 an acre, transport included from Delaware.

March and April add a day or we wait. The free quote is on-site; I walk the property myself. Call (740) 729-8625 or send the form with photos to get an estimate. Soil, Season and Vegetation From the Hocking River to Buckeye Lake

Fairfield County's ground is Crosby and Kokomo silt loam over till clay north of Lancaster, sandstone and Mount Pleasant knobs south of it. Near Buckeye Lake it is muck under swamp white oak. Along the Hocking River and Walnut Creek it is sycamore bottoms with a hawthorn fence line on the agricultural land above. The woodland on the knobs is oak and hickory on thin soil.

Frozen, mud or dust, pick one. The till side holds water into May; the sandstone side drains and dries by April. I walked a lot off SR 37 last spring and the tile was running at 30 inches. The cleanup runs with the drainage swales kept open.

Burn Rules, Wetlands and Permits Before You Clear

Burning land-clearing brush is out inside Lancaster and the villages. Ohio EPA OAC 3745-19 bars open burning inside corporation limits. In the townships the pile sits 1,000 feet from a neighbor's house with written notice to Ohio EPA, and ODNR Forestry bars daytime burning in spring and fall. So we mulch or haul.

A pad needs the Fairfield County Building Department permit plus a zoning certificate from the township: Violet, Bloom, Liberty, Greenfield. Lancaster runs its own building department inside the city. Clearing alone on acreage needs no permit; farm use is exempt under ORC 519.21. At 1 acre of disturbance Fairfield SWCD reviews the erosion and sediment control plan, the kind I wrote for fourteen years on I-71 pads.

Kokomo flats and Buckeye Lake muck can be isolated wetlands; Ohio EPA Level 1 covers fill to half an acre, filed with you. Streams go to the USACE Huntington District. Trees over 3 inches on tracts over 1 acre come down October 1 to March 31 for the Indiana bat. OUPS 811 before any stump work.

Frozen-Ground Land Clearing December to February

Frozen ground is the land clearing season on the till side, December through February. The clay sets up, the mulcher rides on top, no mud surcharge, bat window open. On our jobs in Bloom Township last winter the skid steer ran a week without a rut. Book January early.
